If I can shop and bank online, why can’t I vote online? – David Jefferson, 2011: The author cites two major points to answer this question. First conducting commence transactions online is not actually safe. However, ecommerce can tolerate much higher levels of fraud than electoral systems can. Second, voting security and privacy requirements are unique and unlike anything in ecommerce. For example security requirements for voting are stronger than those for financial transactions, including eligibility checking, proxy vote prevention, and double vote prevention.
